U5 - Assembly of prefabricated concrete elements for assembly supervisor and assembly foreman – Online course

Target group

This course is intended for people who regularly work with the installation of precast concrete elements and who hold, or are preparing to take on, a supervisory role.

Prerequisites

Participants should have practical experience in the installation of precast concrete elements and/or higher education in a relevant construction discipline. Please contact Betong Norge if you have any questions about the entry requirements.

Participants who meet the requirements of NS-EN 13670 and the supplementary requirements specified by Betongopplæringsrådet (the Norwegian Concrete Training Council) will be eligible for a certificate of competence issued by the Council. This certificate documents competence as an installation supervisor or installation foreman.

To have your U5 course approved, you must have completed the U3 course. However, you can still attend the U5 course if you have not yet completed U3. In this case, you must complete the U3 course at a later date before your U5 course can be formally approved.

Learning objectives

The installation of precast concrete elements and composite structures must be carried out safely and efficiently, in accordance with the competence requirements set out in NS-EN 13670.

The course aims to provide installation supervisors and foremen with the knowledge and safety awareness required to plan, supervise and carry out this work.

Course duration and format

The course comprises five days in total, including preparatory e-learning and a final examination.

One day’s course content is delivered through e-learning, which must be completed before the live online sessions begin. The remaining training takes place within one working week.

Access to the e-learning will be provided approximately 10 days before the course starts. All participants will receive an email with access instructions.

Installation supervisors and installation foremen attend the same course.

Examination and Certificate of Competence

After successfully completing the U5 course and passing the final examination, participants may apply for a Certificate of Competence issued by the Norwegian Council of Concrete Competence (Betongopplæringsrådet).

The certificate confirms that the holder meets the qualification requirements for precast concrete assembly in accordance with NS-EN 13670. Certificates are available for Assembly Managers (UMKL) and Assembly Foremen (UMFB).

To obtain a certificate, applicants must document the required education, completed courses (including U3 and U5) and relevant practical experience. Completing the U5 course alone does not automatically qualify participants for a certificate.
